As far as the types of network cables are concerned, 4-core and 8-core cables are often seen and are widely used. As a cable manufacturer with a long history, we believe that many of us may not know the how to distinguish them, together with connection methods.

A. Comparison of 4-core and 8-core cable connection methods

1. 4-core cable connection method

As its name implies, a 4-core cable has only 4 wires inside, orange white, orange, green white, and green respectively.

We all know that there are 8 slots inside the crystal head, which are labeled as 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 respectively. For 4-core cable, its orange white wire is for slot 1, orange for slot 2, green white for slot 3, and green for slot 6.

2. 8-core cable connection method

As its name implies, a 8-core cable has 8 wires inside, orange white, orange, green white, blue, blue white, green, brown white, and brown respectively. The advantage is that one cable can be split into two.

Insert its wires into the crystal head with above sequence, and press them tightly with crystal pliers.

B. Comparison of transmission rates

Let us keep it simple, the 8-core cable is faster and more stable as it can reach the speed of 100M, while the 4-core cable cannot reach that speed.
